CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM by Grand Knight Mike Aiken and was opened with the Our Father and the Pledge of Allegiance.

IN ATTENDANCE

GK Mike Aiken, Regent Ducas, Bill Knight, Kevin Koehl, Dave LaPlante, Michael Lomax, Bill McCain, Andre McCoy, Dien Nguyen, Jim O’Brien, Scott Reneau, Damon Rodriguez, Danny Sauter, Clyde Slick and John Hashtack (District Deputy)

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

DGK Clyde Slick made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 20, 2025 meeting. The minutes were approved by a unanimous voice vote.

AGENDA

  • Membership Director and DGK Clyde Slick reported that there were three new KOC Council applications to be considered:

  • Scott Jakab, a new applicant

  • Milan Mora, a new applicant

  • Andre McCoy, a transfer from Switzerland Council, currently a 4th Degree Knight, who was in attendance

After the recommendations by Clyde Slick, all three new applicants were approved for membership by unanimous voice vote.

  • GK Report

  • Mike reported that the Knights Table needs to be manned after both the 8:30 and 10:30 Masses. After some discussion, a recommendation was made to develop a schedule. It was suggested that SignUp Genius (or something similar) might prove a better option than Ministry Scheduler Pro.

  • Regarding Council formation, Mike reported that two forms require submittal and/or edits and that they will be submitted this week. These are Form 185 – Report of Officers Chosen and the Application for Charter (a name to be added).

  • The next Corporate Communion is scheduled for the 10:30 Mass on August 31.

  • Mike asked about the next Food Drive. Jim O’Brien reported that he will be submitting suggested dates to Fr. Tom.

  • The Council checking account balance is $580. Of this, $360 is from dues while $220 is from donations.

  • New Business
    Mike gave a preliminary report of interest from as many as 25-30 parishioners of Our Lady of Good Counsel in forming a Council. GK Mike Aiken and DGK Clyde Slick will meet with two OLGC parishioners regarding possible Round Table formation within Council #18677.

  • 4th Degree
    The Ave Maria Assembly meets next on August 12.

  • District Deputy Report

  • DD John Hashtack reported that there is a new State Deputy, Mike Gizewski. There is also a new state pin, and he presented one to GK Mike Aiken.

  • John reported that the new State Deputy has several priorities and reiteration, including:

  • Section 245 of the bylaws prohibits alcohol at any meeting.

  • Praying a rosary prior to meeting is encouraged.

  • Appointment of a Director for Evangelization and Faith Formation (EFF). See GK Mike Aiken if interested.

  • Councils are encouraged to have their own Exemplification Team with at least one exemplification per month.

  • John presented $200 to GK Mike Aiken as a new Council stipend from Supreme.

  • Lecturer Michael Lomax gave a spiritual reading from St. Augustine concerning the restraint and endurance.

  • The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 following the Hail Mary and Glory Be.
